Determination

Determination. Over the past 4+ weeks, like a lot of other people, I have tuned in to the ‘The Last Dance’, a miniseries about the 1997-1998 Chicago Bulls season.

One of the things that is clear throughout is the sheer determination that Jordan had during his career and how he used it to fuel his fire and motivation. At times it’s hard to watch as he bullies his teammates and comes across as a tyrant. At other times it’s beautiful to watch someone who pushes his teammates to success they never thought was possible.

As I watched, I was reminded that while we cannot all ‘Be Like Mike’, we can use his determination and focus in our everyday lives. I’m a big believer that adversity shapes our lives for the better and without it, we would never know true success.

During times like these everyone is faced with unknowns, uncertainties, and unanswered questions. However, if we face each day with a determination, a drive, a quest for something better for ourselves and those around us, we will get through this together. And just like Jordan was able to raise the game of those around him because he demanded excellence, those around us will also improve, get better, and grow as we demand excellence from them. #determination #leadership
